This year’s Miss Olokun Beauty Pagaent promises to be unique and will showcase African beauty, art and culture in a competitive manner whereby young and well-groomed ladies representing different States showcase their beauty, talent and intelligence in a classy manner, using the International Standard with African content.

Celebrating the Mysterious Sea Goddess Olokun

We are proud to announce this year’s theme of the Olokun Festival in Badagry, Lagos as “SUSTAINING YORUBA CULTURAL HERITAGE FOR THE COMING GENERATION”. Please come join us ocean-side and invigorate your senses with the fresh, salt air breezes and catch some fun on Suntan Beach in Badagry! You will not want to miss our final days of October 22-23 as the beach will be pulsing with people eating, drinking and dancing to live bands til dawn.

With 11 days of events we kick off the Opening with Prayers to Almighty God on Monday,September 28th. The Miss Olokun Beauty Pageant and Art Exhibition will be held on Friday, October 15th at 10th Degree Events Center, Plot A2, Oregun Industrial Estates, Ikeja, Lagos 6:00 p.m. The Yoruba Quiz Competition is scheduled for Monday, October 18th venue and time to be announced. The Olokun Festival Lecture series will hold on Wednesday, October 2oth; Festival Float Thursday, October 21st.

Friday October 22nd Boat Regatta at Marina seaside, Badagry; Royal Blessing by Oba Akran of Badagry; Royal Night; Ayo Olopon competition; Film show; Live bands until dawn!

GRAND FINALE SATURDAY, OCTOBER 23RD SUNTAN BEACH, BADAGRY, LAGOS STATE

HIGH TABLE WITH ROYAL OBAS AND DISTINGUISHED ROYAL GUESTS FROM NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES

Elegbara-The Mighty and Powerful One

You are invited to partake in the celebration of our Yoruba deities Ogun and Elegbara this coming 21st of December 2009. The event will be held at the Ikorodu Town Hall in Ikorodu, Lagos at 12 noon. Alaiyeluwa Oba Salaudeen A. Oyefusi, Ayangbunren of Ikorodu (Oguntade II) is the special host of Honor. The event is being sponsored by the Olokun Festival Foundation with Chief Host Otunba Dr. Gani Adams in attendance, and under the chairmanship of Prince Segun Ogunfile. Special guests include:Alhaji Lukman Ogoluwa; Otunba Kamorudeen Lamina (Sir Kay); Alhaji Rasheed Alayande; Prince Raymond Amjusa; Alhaji Kasumu Mallo, and Aluwo Ajose. Celebrate the richness of the Yoruba culture with music, foods, and cultural displays.

This lovely beach will be transformed into an African village for non-stop fun. Priests and Priestesses will be available for divination in the Olokun shrine at the back of the coconut grove.
